During the first 48 hours of self-isolation, it is likely that you or your child may feel too unwell to tackle schoolwork, nor should this be a priority. However, here are some activities your child can do if they are well enough to continue their learning whilst awaiting test results or while their class teacher is putting home learning in place.
- Reading - 30 minutes daily reading and talking about the text. Discuss tricky words, make predictions about the text, saying why you think this might happen. If you finish your book you could talk about what you enjoyed about the text, or write a short prequel or sequel to it. Pick out tricky vocabulary and look it up in a dictionary.
- Maths - Log on to TT rockstars for 30 minutes of times tables practice and please see the maths investigation below.
- Spelling - please practice your weekly spellings in your best handwriting, I have also included the year 3 and 4 spelling words below which could be used for additional spelling practice.
- Writing - Write a story all about a river. Imagine you are a drop of water at the source of a river and describe your journey as you head downstream, all the way to the sea. Try to use some technical vocabulary e.g. tributary, source, mouth, meander, bank and erosion.
